Prashar Lake : Bewitching

Prashar lake is one of the most bewitching scenic spot in western himalaya region. Due to its unapproachability it has remained relatively unpolluted. This saucer like lake is fed by the snow deposit around the rim and the fresh rain water that is collected directly.

There is a small island that keeps floating gently on the crystal clear blue water of the lake , the island further add up to its aura of mystic divinity.

This island keeps on moving over the lake even with the slightest movement of breeze, creating countless ripples on the surface.

It is believed that the movement of this island is related to the weather change and by studying it weather change can be anticipated.

Prashar Rishi : The Temple

The Temple is located at the edge of the lake. It was built by Raja Ban sen (1301-1346 A.D.) one of the earliest rulers of Mandi principality.

Since it was located far away from the villages, in a secluded place,in the high mountain region, it remained almost unattended and left to the care of nature. Therefore it has been able to upkeep most of its original features in decorative structural elements.

Keep visiting for more picutures and updates.

Prashar Lake : Serene Beauty

Recently i had a visit to Prashar. Situated at the height of 2730 meters (9000 feet nearly) above sea level and about 63 km from Kullu and 42 Km from Mandi. It is approachable by road from both Kullu and Mandi Districts.

The view when we reached at the top was just amazing. In the picture above: a small pond on the way to the lake.

This place is sacred to Parashar Sage, on the edge of the lake there is a three tired pagoda type temple dedicated to Prashar Rishi ( Sage).
There are more interesting pictures and facts, about this place will post in coming days for you all.

Murlidhar Temple, Thawa

Murlidhar Temple, is located in Thawa village nearly 29 Km from Kullu.

Built in early medieval period,(5000 years ago) in Shikara Style.

This temple is dedicated to Lord Krishna also known as Murlidhar.

Along with the idols of lord Krishna, there are idols of Radha, Garud and Laxminarayana.

As per Hindu Mythology, Radha and Krishna are the eternal lovers. An interesting story related to them was told during my visit to the temple. Earlier when the temple was constructed Radha’s Idol was not in the temple. It is believed that due to this reason usually Lord Krishna was found absent from the Temple. Only after the idol of Radha was brought into the temple, the two eternal lovers were unified again.
